CHESTER, UK (ANS) -- ASSIST Europe Director Peter Wooding is gearing up to take on a double marathon challenge to raise funds for an Easter Mission to a special needs orphanage in Vladikazkaz, Russia.

38-year-old Wooding, who lives in North Wales, UK is busy training for both the Los Angeles Marathon on March 4, followed just six weeks later with the London Marathon on Apr 22. Wooding said: "I'm very much looking forward to what will be my second LA Marathon and fourth London marathon. More importantly though I'm hoping to raise significant funds to return to a special needs orphanage in Vladikavkaz in North Ossetia. We first ministered at this centre in September 2005, when I led a team to Beslan on the first anniversary of the tragic school massacre.

"Since that trip ASSIST Europe has launched an 'Out of the Cot' campaign to provide resources for this special needs orphanage to help provide stimulation and God's love to these children than can so often be neglected and stigmatized through their disabilities.

This Easter, Wooding, who's also Senior News Editor for United Christian Broadcasters in the UK, will lead a team of 12 Christians both from his church in Chester, England and Cookstown Methodist church in Northern Ireland. Wooding

added: "We plan to spend most of the mission providing dance, and art workshops and lots of fun games to the children at the orphanage, while sharing the Easter message with them. We plan to take out lots of toys, puppets, clothing, games and a number of resources for the children. I'm so excited how God has placed this team together with so many people experienced in this field of work.

"We very much have a long-term vision to support this orphanage. This will include resourcing the building of a sensory room in the orphanage as well as funding the local ACCR church to continue ministering on a regular basis there."
