Peace rally held to promote unity

SALEM, TAMIL NADU, INDIA (ANS) -- The Salem Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) organized a World Peace Rally to promote global peace here on Friday, October 6.

According to The Hindu Newspaper, the peace rally was flagged off by YMCA World Alliance president Martin Meissner. The rally passed through important thoroughfares and concluded at the Vijaya Ragha Vachariyar Hall. School and college students participated in the rally and raised slogans asking people promote non-violence and peace.

They stressed that people should join together to promote unity and communal harmony.

YMCA office-bearers extended a warm welcome to the YMCA World Alliance president Meissner. Salem YMCA president and World Alliance deputy president Samuel D. Stephens and Bishop of CSI Coimbatore Diocese, Manickam Dorai, were present.
