Author Follows Vision to Take Prayer Journal to the Nations

COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA (ANS) -- As her mother-in-law’s death from cancer drew near, one woman found solace in simple spiritual disciplines.

“The only way I could get through this was by prayer, reading my Bible

Jennifer Hope Webster

every day, and by being faithful to write in a journal,” says Jennifer Hope Webster, author of the “Chat with God: 40 Days, Prayer Journal” (www.chatwithgod.org). “I birthed this ministry out of a great deal of pain,” she recalls.

Her experience led her to create a prayer journal to encourage the devotional life of other believers around the world. In 1999, she felt God directing her to take her prayer journal to the nations. In partial fulfillment of that vision, Vida Zondervan Publishing came out with a Spanish version recently and Webster has plans for more. “I have a vision for every single language,” she says.

“This prayer journal is a simple way that people can pray like Jesus did in the Lord’s Prayer,” Webster notes. The body of her 150-page book is set-up for journal entries, which allow readers to write their prayers following a format that includes adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication. One may choose to write daily, or several times each week.

The book contains numerous Bible references and stories, as well as some recent accounts that bear witness to God’s miraculous presence in the world today.

On Webster’s website, she also started a global services directory to help Christian organizations network with each other worldwide.

“I want to pass along Christian truths from the Holy Bible to the next generation,” Webster says. “This is a powerful and life-impacting project.”
