CENTURY CITY, CA (ANS) -- Fox Home Entertainment is releasing the unforgettable story of the birth of the anti-slavery movement and one of the most beloved hymns of all time when Amazing Grace debuts on DVD November 13, 2007.

Amazing Grace chronicles the “must see” (O, The Oprah Magazine) story

of William Wilberforce, the pioneer who maneuvered his way through 18th century politics to abolish the slave trade in the British Empire and changed the world.

Dubbed an “Indie hit” by Hollywood trades and insiders since its release in theaters, which drew more than $31 million at the worldwide box office, a number of humanitarian movements have gained momentum supporting the movie, including efforts to end modern day slavery. Seven amazing moments for Amazing Grace include:

• 6,000 churches around the world—from Greece to Grenada, from Norway to Nigeria—joined together worldwide on “Amazing Grace Sunday” to sing the timeless hymn and pray for the end of modern day slavery.
• After viewing scenes from the movie, 4,000 local, national and international leaders joined renowned singer Whintley Phipps in the singing of “Amazing Grace” at the 2007 National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C.
• At an Australian Federal Parliamentary screening of Amazing Grace, a letter from Prime Minister John Howard announced that “in the 2007-2008 Budget, the government committed a further $38.3 million over four years to extend and expand the government's strategy to combat people trafficking.”
• Inspired by the movie, more than 125,000 people—mostly students—signed The Amazing Change petition to end modern day slavery. The names on the petitions were presented at an October 2007 White House event.
• Private screenings and presentations of Amazing Grace with the President and First Lady, Members of Congress, the U.S. Department of State, 91 members of Parliament and the House of Lords, the British Ambassador to the U.S. with delegates from African and Caribbean nations, and before countless governments, festivals, conferences and organizations.
• The U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives passed resolutions commemorating the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the British slave trade and honoring the life of William Wilberforce.
• Theaters reported audiences giving Amazing Grace a standing ovation and spontaneously singing “Amazing Grace” during the closing credits.
