Doer of the word
A visit to the birthplace of ANS founder, Dan Wooding

By Michael David of KWVE Radio
Special to ASSIST News Service

NIGERIA (ANS) -- Today was my second day in Nigeria. When I awoke this morning I heard the sounds of praise songs being lifted to the Lord as my host and all the members of his household were going through their morning devotionals. My host came into my room and asked me if I wanted to join, and I couldn't refuse. They were going through the part of scripture that records the time when Jesus was in the house of a Pharisee and an immoral woman came in and poured perfume on his feet.

Vom Christian Hospital where Dan Wooding was born on December 19, 1940

It was a good reminder that sometimes when people come into our fellowship that don't look as holy as we think they should be, and sometimes they are genuinely seeking the Lord.

Later in the day we drove up to the Vom Christian Hospital which is where Dan Wooding from the Front Page Radio program on KWVE 107.9 FM in Southern California and the ASSIST News Service was born as Dan's parents (Alf and Anne Wooding) were missionaries here in Nigeria with SIM many years ago.

This hospital was founded by missionaries in 1922, and it was the first hospital ever built in Nigeria. We saw the place where the missionaries used to live which is now a conference center, and we also saw the place where they used to have a maternity ward that is now a place for offices.

If you'd like more information on the Vom Christian Hospital please write to them at Vom Christian Hospital - P.M.B. 06 - Vom Plateau State- NIGERIA.

We left Vom and continued on towards Jos, and when we finally arrived at the home of a native Nigerian named Dr. Danbahaushe Bako. Dr. Bako is adored by the people in this community because of his long standing history of hospitality and generosity in his area. As a result, many of the people in the area who have belonged to the Muslim faith have now turned to Christ as their Savior.
