NAIROBI, KENYA (ANS) -- An East African Global Congress, organized by the Nairobi Baptist Church (NBC), is expected to bring together 3,000 church leaders from ten nations across East Africa.
According to the organizers, they have high hopes that at the end of the Congress, the church leaders would be able to form a cohesive network that would enable them to work in synergy in order to reach the un-reached and work towards completing the Great Commission.
The Congress will include three days of round-table strategy meetings, along with presentations from key global and African Christian leaders, and will also help ministers around the world to cross-pollinate and share best methods and practices with each other, especially with regard to Africa.
The event at the Nairobi Baptist Church, Ngong Road, opposite City Mortuary and next to Daystar University, Valley Road Campus, will be held October 14-18, 2008, and further enable participants to use a common global map to identify the greatest needs and win the least un-reached. It is expected to conclude with an all-day prayer gathering.
The organizers say that among others, notable speakers drawn from across the globe include Loren Cunningham, the Founder of Youth With A Mission, Dr Avery T. Willis, the Executive Director, International Orality Network and the Ambassador-at-large, Center for Global Outreach, David Hamilton the International Associate Provost, University of the Nations.
Nairobi Baptist Church, the Congress facilitator, was founded in 1958 by a group of 20 people made up of Africans, Asians and Europeans who took local initiatives and covenanted to form a congregation of born again believers of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
They identified and responded to the need for a local congregation of open membership. This membership was based on personal Christian faith and drawn from society’s multi-ethnic groups. The church has placed a deliberate emphasis on expository ministry of the Word.
Nairobi Baptist Church is an urban evangelical congregation of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, characterized by a diversity of nationalities, ethnicities and generations, and endowed with a multiplicity of gifts and skills.
