'Hollywood on Fire' recognizes those talented individuals who have risen to the top and are striving with excellence to be a positive influence in the world of entertainment.
Consequently, there is once again the opportunity to inspire a whole new generation of filmmakers to have power in the Hollywood system and influence around the world.
Produced by the Saylors Brothers, Kyle and Kenny, the 105-minute movie hit stores on February 24, and is available online at Amazon.com or from the Saylors' website www.hollywoodonfire.com .
The Saylors Brothers' partnered with Pisces Productions, and the film is narrated by Jeff Magruder, and features the music of "One Song" by Erica Lane.
Kyle Saylors, director, told ASSIST News: "I was working on secular projects, and I woke up one night thinking 'God, what am I doing, I want to do something that works for you.' I opened the Bible and it fell to the scripture Matthew 5:14: 'You are the light of the world, a city that is set on a hill cannot be hid,' and then I thought no matter what I do, I can be like a candle. If all the Christians in Hollywood would come together, it will appear as a fire."
Who is the intended audience?
Saylors explained: "This was really made for Christians in the fact that there is a big misconception about Hollywood being void of Christians. It would be easy to make a documentary exposing the bad things in Hollywood, but this shows the good things being done."
Saylors was asked what the producers hope to achieve with its production?
Saylors said: "To inform people and open eyes that God is doing things in Hollywood. I want people to be inspired, especially if they do work in the entertainment industry. Really, it translates into whatever you're doing. Whether you rent movies or watch television, everyone has a part in the movie business. Your decisions on where you put your money and what films you support decide what Hollywood will make next. God has always had a presence in the arts throughout history, and there should continue to be a presence."
ANS also asked Saylors how and why were the participants chosen?
"We started out with the people we were connected to, most of which were friends of friends," said Saylors.
He added: "We had an idea of their integrity, and some we just called up that we new had a good story to tell. Some people we wanted refused to be interviewed, and some we did not expect were. We believe God allowed the right people to be featured in this film. We wanted many perspectives, not just from actors, but also writers, producers, directors, and others behind the scenes."
On being featured in the new documentary, Dan Wooding, Founder of ASSIST News, who has covered crime, religion, and show business in his 40-year journalistic career, commented: "I first met the Saylors brothers on the Red Carpet at the Movieguide® awards some years ago. We were all filming interviews and we began to get to know each other.
"They finally asked me if I would be one of the people in the film as a Christian journalist working in Hollywood."
Wooding said his interview with the Saylors was filmed by Kyle Saylors at the Compassion Radio studios in Lake Forest, California.
Wooding is one of more than 60 Christian professionals, including producers, directors, actors, studio executives, comedians, stunt men, journalists, recording artists and critics, interviewed in the documentary that chronicles the past, present and future of faith in the entertainment industry.
He now runs the ASSIST News Service (ANS) -- www.assistnews.net -- which provides news to some 2,600 media outlets several times a day and hosts two Los Angeles-based radio shows, "Front Page Radio" and "Window on the World."
Wooding has worked as a senior reporter for The Christian, the Middlesex County Times, the Sunday People and the Sunday Mirror in London before moving to the United States. He has interviewed many Hollywood stars over the years including Johnny Mathis, Burt Lancaster, David Soul, Kenny Rogers, Chuck Norris, Jane Russell, Mickey Rooney and Pat Boone.
Wooding has worked as a writer and broadcaster with Billy Graham in Moscow, Russia; Essen, Germany and, more recently, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He wrote the cover story on Billy Graham, his wife Ruth, and son Franklin, for the March/April 1996 issue of the Saturday Evening Post.
He is also the author of some 42 books including "From Tabloid to Truth," which is his autobiography and includes several chapters on his life in Birmingham, England. For more information on the book, go to www.fromtabloidtotruth.com
