Operation Mobilization Launches Appeal to help Over 15, 000 Deprived Children in India

INDIA (ANS) -- In an effort to meet the needs of the poor and deprived children in India, Operation Mobilization (OM), has launched an appeal for sponsorship of the children.

Poor and deprived children of India are being helped by Operation Mobilization

The appeal tagged “Help Feed a Child in India” is targeting more than 15,000 of the poorest children in India, from the severely oppressed Dalit people, also known known as "the untouchables.”

This is information is contained in a statement by the ministry that was founded by George Verwer, adding that the appeal is expected to give hope to the children of India and that education would normally be out of reach for them, but they are students in OM’s nearly 100 Dalit schools.

“The English-based education offers them future job opportunities that would otherwise be impossible. In addition, the students take what they learn in school about God and His love and share it with their families at home,” the statement said.

It noted that many of the children are from families who don’t have enough money to provide lunch for the school day and that a good education is available at no cost, but the children are hungry and undernourished.

It stated: “Approximately 50% of India’s children suffer from malnutrition, and most of those are among the Dalits.”

It noted that OM is addressing this need in India with a new program which will provide a healthy meal to the children who cannot bring lunch to school adding that a generous supporter is matching gifts given for this so that the amount is doubled and the impact is doubled.

“Your gift of $25 will be matched and become $50. And that $50 will feed a child for an entire school year i.e. 200 days! Gifts of any amount will be doubled. $50 becomes $100 and feeds two children. Your gift will help combat hunger and malnutrition and will enable a child to make strides toward a better future.”

ANS notes that Operation Mobilization works around the world with 5,400 missionaries from more than 90 nations working in more than 110 countries and onboard two ocean-going mission ships.

And that OM seeks to demonstrate and proclaim the love of God through evangelism, church planting, discipleship, and literature distribution and also by providing relief and development in many areas of the world.

On Muslim Outreach in India and onboard the Ships, we also note that OM is one of the largest mission organizations working in Muslim outreach, and is also one of the largest mission organizations in India. And OM's ship ministry welcomes more than 1 million people onboard its mission ships each year and through their history, the ships have welcomed 38 million people in nearly 500 cities and distributed 50 million Scripture portions.
