Extremists Stop Church Construction

Gospel for Asia
For Immediate Release

A GFA-supported pastor and the Christians from a church like this one were arrested while building a new church. The pastor and the workers were released from jail, but they were unable to resume work on the building.

SOUTH ASIA (ANS) -- Gospel for Asia-supported missionary Sarak Dubey and several members of his congregation were arrested and put in jail because they were building a church.

The incident occurred October 15 after a few vocal anti-Christian extremists complained to the police about the Christians and their construction project. The extremists convinced the village head to file a police case against Sarak demanding that he halt the construction project.

As soon as the case was filed, police went to the construction site and arrested the pastor and the other Christians who were working on the building that day. There were in jail for several hours before being released.

They are unable to resume the construction project until the village head drops the charges and grants them permission. They are eager to get back to work and ask their fellow Christians to pray that the the Lord would soften the hearts of the village leaders.

Also pray for Sarak’s ministry. He leads a church in which 21 people have already chosen to follow Christ.

See another GFA-supported congregation celebrate the dedication of their new church building.
