PO Box 609, Lake Forest, CA 92609-0609 USA Friday, January 29, 2010 Pakistani court extends remand of accused in Christian minor’s murder case By Dan Wooding Founder of ASSIST Ministries LAHORE, PAKISTAN (ANS) -- A local court in Lahore, Pakistan, on Friday extended the physical remand of Advocate Muhammad Naeem for another six days in the Shazia murder case, ANS has learned. Shazia Bashir aged 12, a Christian maid, was found dead in Advocate Muhammad Naeem's house on Friday, January 22, 2010. The family members of the deceased, and Christian rights activists, have alleged that Shazia died as a result of torture and alleged sexual abuse by her master. According to post-mortem report there were some 19 marks of injury on Shazia's body but it did not suggest that the deceased was raped. Naeem was presented before Judicial Magistrate Saleem Sheikh at the Cantonment courts on Friday. The lawyer was first remanded into police custody for three days but his remand was extended to six days and the accused will be presented before the court on February 3. ANS has discovered that during the Friday’s court hearing, Shazia’s family and local Christians held a protest outside Cantonment courts against the accused and his family.
