PO Box 609, Lake Forest, CA 92609-0609 USA Monday, February 22, 2010 Scripture ’On-The-Go’ -- The Bible Comes Alive with the New GoBible Traveler Pre-Loaded MP3 Player By Michael Ireland Chief Correspondent, ASSIST News Service MINNEAPOLIS, MN (ANS) -- Some people are visual learners, and some learn in auditory ways. As for me, I love books, but I enjoy using my MP3 player to listen to the radio -- either my favorite Christian station or the local NPR affiliate. Now, among my favorite things to carry around in my pocket is an MP3 player loaded with Scripture, featuring both old and New Testaments.
The Original GoBible featured new, cutting-edge technology and included an entire audio version of the Bible preloaded (70+ hours of audio). Users can search by book, chapter, and, for the first time in an audio Bible, over 31,000 verses. It was available in three translations: The New International Version (NIV), The King James Version (KJV) and the New King James Version (NKJV). The Scriptures are read by award-winning narrators, and loaded with special features. The updated Traveler device is available in two new portable audio Bible editions, The GoBible Traveler and the Spanish GoBible Viajero The GoBible Traveler is a lightweight, hand-held,
Other features make it easier to select the book and chapter to play, 36 Bookmarks to mark or return to where you were listening, "Bible-in-a-Year" feature to listen to the Bible in 365 days with 12-15 minutes per day -- and the device does not require listeners to download any files or software. The Original GoBible® included a Story Index of over 225 popular Bible stories, a Topic Index, a Holiday/Events Index, bookmarks, and a "Bible-in-a-Year" study plan. It was portable and easy-to-use -- small enough to fit in the palm of your hand or in a shirt pocket -- and easy to use for all ages. The GoBible® website, www.gobible.com , features downloads of various Bible translations, popular Christian books and sermons from beloved teachers -- including Henry Blackaby, Jonathan Edwards, Martin Luther and John Bunyan, as well as Bible stories and popular Bible verses for ring tones. Each GoBible Traveler retails for $59.95 and includes instructions, earphones and one AAA battery that can power the device for over 20 hours. Both versions can be played through two GoBible® accessories: a set of portable speakers, or an FM transmitter for car stereo playback. Additional information may be found at www.gobible.com The new GoBible Traveler also holds the entire Old and New Testaments, meaning it also has over 70 hours of biblical audio preloaded and searchable by chapter. Advanced features of the GoBible Traveler include the Traveler's Bible-in-a-Year plan and Bookmark functions, which allow you to easily organize your own Bible study. It is available in Three Translations: In English, the New International Version (NIV), The King James Version (KJV); in Spanish, the Neuva Versión Internacional (NVI). With audio read by award winning narrators, it is portable and easy-to-use. The GoBible® Traveler is portable-small enough to fit in the palm of your hand or in a shirt pocket, is easy to use for all ages, and has a newly-designed face, with individual buttons instead of a toggle switch. The Go Bible Traveler includes a small, easy-to-use GoBible Traveler Digital Audio Bible holding the entire Old and New Testaments -- over 70 hours of preloaded audio. Users can: Package includes: One reviewer on the www.familychristian.com website, in commenting on the Original GoBible made the following remark: "The GoBible was purchased for my husband. He is currently a student at Liberty University. The GoBible has made his studies so much easier and convenient! He is able to listen to verses virtually anywhere. Additionally, when he listens and reads at the same time, his retention is doubled. The ease of locating desired verses in amazing. This is a must have for those who desire learning the Bible." Another purchaser said: "I recently purchased a GoBible and am absolutely delighted. I found it easy to use and the features are great. I have a cochlear implant to enable hearing and found that I have no problem hearing the readings on this MP3. What a wonderful purchase this was. Thank you, GoBible!" Kate Meade, writing in the Monthly Computer Chronicle, in April 2007, said: "Life is hectic. An ordinary day can be a whirlwind of mundane tasks. Finding time to read my bible can be impossible in the chaos. However, I do somehow find the time and the GoBible® has just made it a lot easier.…I can now relax and listen as Alexander Scourby reads God's word to me, or I can listen while doing housework, walking, etc. I won't be throwing my bible out, with its worn pages and notes in the margins -- my love for the written Word remains, but the GoBible® is a great way to get more scripture into my day. Calm in the midst of the storm." Pastor Aaron Reed, Portsmouth, Ohio, commented: "As a pastor, I am always looking for new ways to help people study the Bible. The GoBible® has been a great addition to my 'toolbox.' It is easy to use and versatile. Like any MP3 player, it can be listened to with earphones, plugged in to speakers, or used in an automobile through the stereo. Recently, a Sunday school teacher borrowed my GoBible® to play the scriptures as the children read along in class -- what a great idea! There are no tapes or CDs to change or worry about wearing out and there is nothing to download -- ever. I am recommending the GoBible® to my entire congregation!" John Clemens, Network Christian radio broadcaster, said of the device: "The GoBible® has been able to take the very words given to us today from the Holy Spirit written by 40 different men over a period of 1600 years and place it in a portable hand-held device that fits in a shirt pocket or purse. Praise God for this product!" Technologist, Leo E., of Dallas, Texas, said: "As a busy executive, it's great to be able to continue my study while flying, driving, and in between meetings. I love GoBible's portability!" On a personal note, I am among those who always say they will attempt to read the Bible in a year, but often get bogged down in Deuteronomy or Leviticus. Now I have the help I need by hearing the Word of God through the 'ear-gate' -- and will be encouraged to read the Bible through the 'eye-gate.' The device has prompted me to grab my Bible off the shelf when a passage catches my attention in a new way. I intend to use my new GoBible Traveler as an adjunct to reading the Bible, with the Scriptures in one hand and the audio device in the other. I hope to listen to and read Scripture at the same time! Since plugging into the GoBible, I have heard well-known passages of the Bible afresh and some obscure verses have captured my attention as never before. If I had to mention one drawback I found with the GoBible Traveler it is that, having grown up with lots of problems with my ears, I discovered the earbuds that come with the device -- a design so popular among the younger generation, including my two daughters --were for me a little uncomfortable to wear. I just replaced them with a set of regular headphones that better-suited my ears, and that solved my problem. Otherwise, the device is simple and easy to use -- I even figured out how to work the buttons without reading the instructions! The Bible says: "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." Perhaps with the arrival and help of my new GoBible Traveler, I will be able to keep my mind focused on Scripture throughout the day as I listen to the spoken Word. I am looking forward to being able to hear the Scriptures any time I want to, any day, any time, all year long, in addition to seeing the Word of God on the printed page. And even if I fail to keep up my reading schedule, I will have the Go Bible Traveler available to help me get into God's Word. I have yet to purchase a set of speakers or the FM transmitter for stereo playback in my car, and it will be interesting to see Eugene Peterson's "The Message" featured on future versions of the Go Bible Traveler. I also look forward to taking advantage of the downloads available at the GoBible website www.gobible.com .
