Pakistani Christian woman confessed she committed blasphemy

GUJRANWALA, PAKISTAN (ANS) -- Rubina Amjad, a Pakistani Christian woman and a mother of three, who was accused of passing derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad last month, has confessed to having committed blasphemy, ANS has learned.

Rubina and her female Muslim neighbor exchanged harsh words when Rubina found that the Ghee (Ghee is made by simmering unsalted butter in a cooking vessel until all water has been boiled off and the milk solids, or protein, has settled to the bottom. The cooked and clarified butter is then spooned off to avoid disturbing the milk solids on the bottom of the pan) worth $7.59 US dollars she had bought from her, had been adulterated with other content.

According to the Centre for Legal Aid, Assistance and Settlement (CLAAS) UK, Rubina stood before the court magistrate on March 24, 2010 where she admitted her fault and was sent to district Jail Gujranwala with her one-and-a-half-year old son.

CLAAS fears that in view of her confession the judge will sentence her to death, and has requested urgent prayers for Rubina’s release.
