PO Box 609, Lake Forest, CA 92609-0609 USA Monday, April 26, 2010 President Obama will “look into” the Army rescinding Franklin Graham’s invitation to speak at a Pentagon prayer service Made this promise during his visit to see Billy Graham on Sunday By Dan Wooding Founder of ASSIST Ministries MONTREAT, NC (ANS) -- President Obama has told Franklin Graham, son of 91-year-old evangelist, Billy Graham, that he will “look into” the situation of the U.S. Army rescinding its invitation to evangelist Franklin Graham for the upcoming National Day of Prayer at the Pentagon.
The Fox News story said, “Franklin Graham said he and the president spoke briefly about the matter. He says he told President Obama activists with an agenda were trying to pull all religion out of the military. Graham said, ‘I wanted to make him aware of that. He said he would look into it.’” In the meantime, the younger Graham has expressed “heartfelt thanks” to the thousands who have sent messages of support to him. “I would like to thank the many thousands of believers across this nation for your phone calls and letters of support during the past few days. I greatly appreciate your prayers and encouragement,” Franklin said on the BGEA website (www.billygraham.org.) “Recent events have demonstrated just how desperately our nation needs to turn to God as we approach the 59th annual National Day of Prayer on May 6.
“On May 6, I will be leading many in prayer at the Cannon House Office Building in Washington, D.C., and I hope millions more will be joining us at prayer events throughout the nation. “Let us stand together in prayer as we humble ourselves, repent of our sins, seek God’s face, and ask Him to heal our land (2 Chronicles 7:14).” Franklin Graham says that only one Sunday remains before the National Day of Prayer ... “an event under attack like never before.” He went on to say, “Please ask your congregations to stand with us as we pray for our president, our leaders, our men and women in the military, and our nation as a whole. We need churches everywhere to stand with us on May 6 as we join in prayer as one nation, under God.” Graham, whose youngest son serves in the Army, stated, “I want to express my strong support for the United States military and all our troops,” said. “I will continue to pray that God will give them guidance, wisdom, and protection, as they serve this great country.” Graham joins a task force led by Mrs. Shirley Dobson whose mission is to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America and its leadership in the seven centers of power: Government, Military, Media, Business, Education, Church, and Family. The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
