PO Box 609, Lake Forest, CA 92609-0609 USA Saturday, August 18, 2012 Mac Powell to release solo Country debut on Tuesday By Ginny McCabe Special to ASSIST News Service NASHVILLE, TN (ANS) -- Mac Powell, the powerful voice behind Third Day, is set to release a solo, self-titled Country debut project on Tuesday, August 21. This new solo effort will include twelve songs, including the song “June Bug,” which was released last month through Powell’s Twitter account, to more than 80,000 followers.
With Third Day, Powell has already been honored with being a multi-platinum selling artist and has received numerous GMA Dove Awards, four GRAMMY Awards, American Music Awards, among others. In June, Powell had the opportunity to debut a solo country performance at the 2012 CMA Music Festival in Nashville. Powell says he grew up listening to country music and that it played a big part of shaping him, musically. Powell worked with producer Jason Hoard, who has been touring with Third Day since 2010. Hoard, a multi-instrumentalist, played banjo and mandolin on the upcoming album and also contributed to the songwriting credits along with Brett James (“Jesus Take the Wheel,” “Love You Out Loud,” “Out Last Night,” “When the Sun Goes Down”). Powell is in the midst of introducing his new music to fans and he has already been booked for over two dozen shows this summer and fall. He will be backed up on stage by a seasoned group of country musicians, affectionately named The Backsliders. Powell will also continue his work with Third Day. Produced by by veteran rock producer Brendan O’Brien, the band is putting the finishing touches on a new album, which is due out this fall. A Spring 2013 tour is set to follow.
