Gospel for Asia (GFA) Worker Jailed, Accused of Being a Rebel

Gospel for Asia
For Immediate Release

CARROLLTON, TX (ANS) -- Jahan Malik, the secretary for the GFA-supported church in his area, has been in jail for eleven months under false allegations of being linked with the Maoists, a Communist rebel group in South Asia.

Pray without ceasing

The area where Jahan lives is known for its high Maoist activity, and police have been keeping close watch for any rebel movements.

Police suspected Jahan, who has a wife and a 5-year-old child, of helping the Maoists, and sentenced him to jail on October 6, 2011. Other Christians from various denominations have also been falsely accused as rebels and taken to prison.

A spokesperson for GFA (www.gfa.org) said, “Today, Jahan remains in prison. Because of the volatile nature of any case involving Maoists, GFA leaders believe it will take a while before the issue is resolved.

“Jahan has a wife and young child. His wife began working at a general store to help provide income for the family.”

Please pray for:

* The speedy release of Jahan.
* The Lord to use Jahan to be a powerful witness while he remains in prison.
* Justice for Jahan and anyone else who might have been falsely accused.
* The Maoists to come to Christ.
