VISTA, CA (ANS) -- Somebody’s Child, another faith-centered GMC TV world première film, recounts the compelling story of a family battling life’s tests with a long-kept secret in the mix.
Douglas Rivers (Michael Jai White), a successful restaurant owner, is an exemplary single father and a loyal loving son. His mother, Constance (Lynn Whitfield), is a central figure in this small family’s life—and a special source of joy and comfort to her grandson, 9-year-old Jacob. But she is slowly dying from kidney failure. Unless there’s a match for her, her life will be drastically shortened, leaving Douglas and young Jacob without any tender female presence in their lives—unless God brings Douglas a wife.
Douglas has also met another friend, an ex-convict, Benjamin Sparks (Byron Minns) whose dog becomes a favorite with young Jacob. But Benjamin ends up being much more than a friend. He is the incarnation of a long-kept family secret. Those who enjoyed Raising Izzie will love Somebody’s Child—a drama cozily wrapped in family values with redemption at the core.
