FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NEW CYBERSPACE WEBSITE CARRIES CHRISTIAN NEWS FROM AROUND THE WORLD
assist news service can now be found at www.assistnews.net.
GARDEN GROVE, CA (ANS) -- ASSIST MINISTRIES of Garden Grove, California,
has announced that it is now operating a news service on its website - www.assistnews.net
-- to provide the Christian community with news about what God his doing in His
world.
"We have started this in-depth news section to keep people informed about
the exciting and often disturbing occurrences that are taking place around the
world," said veteran journalist Dan Wooding, founder of ASSIST Ministries
and the head of the ASSIST News Service (ANS), which already provides an e-mail
news service to some 2,400 Christian media outlets around the world.
Wooding, 60, who has been a working journalist for more than 33 years, has now
assembled an experienced team of correspondents who are providing daily stories
on missions, the persecuted church, entertainment and culture, HIV/AIDS, and
general-interest features. The team includes Michael Ireland, Mark Ellis, Noel T. Tarrazona, Herb Hall, Stefan Bos, Matt Turner, Dennis
Daily and Ron Brackin.
Wooding has also filed stories in recent times from Israel, the West Bank, Gaza,
Jordan, Russia and the United Kingdom, as well as interviewing people like
Graham Kerr, the Galloping Gourmet, and Aida Skripnikova, the courageous
Christian dissident who spent two separate spells in prison in Russia for her
faith. These stories are all on the website.
The website regularly carried stories from Open Doors USA, MOVIEGUIDE ®,
International Aid, Wycliffe Associates USA, and OM Ships, as well as other
ministries.
"We hope that people will log onto the site daily to get the news that they
will not find in most secular media outlets," he said. "Ken
Hunt, our webmaster, has included pictures with most of the stories and also set
up a search engine for older stories. Our stories can be reproduced freely
with the only stipulation that attribution be given to the ASSIST News Service
when they are carried."
"WINDOW ON THE WORLD"
Also on the website are sample programs from "Window on the World," a
weekly five-minute radio show that is co-hosted by Bruce Sonnenberg and Dan
Wooding, and carried on some 350 radio stations in the USA, UK, Australia, Tonga
and Denmark.
"The radio program is about the persecuted church and is offered free of
charge to Christian radio stations who wish to carry it," said Wooding.
(To request a copy of the latest CD, which has 10 new programs in it, just
e-mail Dan Wooding at assistcomm@cs.com.)
The ASSIST website also provides information on its Bridge of Friendship pen pal
programs with China, Taiwan and Russia and has a way that people can enroll for
them.
