Movieguide® Founder Speaks Out During another Week of Bloodshed from Islamic State (ISIS)
By Dan Wooding, Founder of ASSIST News Service
LAKE FOREST, CA (ANS (July 1, 2016) – Once again, it has been another terrible week of bloodshed and violence, and it shows no sign of letting up.
First, we had a gun and suicide bomb attack on Istanbul’s Ataturk airport on Tuesday, that killed 43 people, including 13 foreign nationals, and now CNN is reporting that the organizer of the massacre is a well-known terrorist from Russia’s North Caucasus region who served as a top soldier in the Islamic State (ISIS) war ministry, a U.S. official has said.
Akhmed Chatayev is the man who directed the three suicide bombers in the attacks that killed 43 people Tuesday, said Rep. Michael McCaul, chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security.
Turkish media reported that a man nicknamed “Akhmed One-Arm” organized the attack.
While his whereabouts are unclear, his ties to jihadist activities are well documented, McCaul said. “He’s … probably the No. 1 enemy in the Northern Caucasus region of Russia. He’s traveled to Syria on many occasions and became one of the top lieutenants for the minister of war for ISIS operations,” McCaul told CNN’s Brianna Keilar.
Now, today (Friday, July 1, 2016), gunmen have stormed a popular cafe in the diplomatic area of the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, taking a number of hostages, said officials. Several foreigners are among those being held by eight or nine armed men in the city’s Gulshan district, they add.
According to the BBC, two police officers have been killed and about 30 others injured in a gun battle, a spokesman said.
Islamic State, also known as ISIS, has once again said that it carried out the attack.
A statement on the group’s self-styled news agency Amaq said militants had attacked a restaurant “frequented by foreigners.” It said that more than 20 people “of different nationalities” had been killed but this has not been confirmed.
Security forces say they are trying to negotiate the hostages’ release.
Initial reports said that as many as 20 foreigners were among those taken captive.
