BOISE, IDAHO (ANS – November 15, 2015) — Radio personality, author, father and husband, Austin Hill, unexpectedly passed away on Friday night.
While I am gathering more information on his sad passing, I will always remember that it was Austin Hill who, shortly after my arrival with my family in Southern California in 1982, introduced me to American Christian radio.
At the time, he was hosting the morning show on KYMS in Orange County, California, and had heard about my deep concern for persecuted Christians, and so he invited me to be a regular Friday morning guest on his show so I could bring the latest news about this important topic.
We built up quite an audience, and one listener was so moved with what she was hearing, that she came and worked for ASSIST for several years as a volunteer.
Eventually, Austin decided to move onto Phoenix, Arizona, with his wife, Nell Dunivent-Hill, and their son, Graham, and his career blossomed from there on. He later moved to the Boise, Idaho, area.
Austin was an author, public speaker, syndicated radio host, consultant, and small business owner. He had consulted small businesses (both for-profit companies and non-profit organizations) on issues of communication, marketing, and strategic planning, for over twenty years.
As a talk show host, Austin was heard on some of America’s finest Talk Radio outlets, including 105.9 WMAL in Washington, D.C., KFI AM 640 in Los Angeles, KFYI in Phoenix, and the Fox Newstalk Radio Network.
He was the creator and host of “Austin Hill’s Big World of Small Business,” a syndicated talk show about entrepreneurship and small business ownership.
He also served on the board of advisors to a regional chapter of “Students In Free Enterprise,” an international non-profit organization devoted to working with business owners and educators to develop socially responsible business leaders for the future. He serves the S.I.F.E. chapter located in the School of Business, at Northwest Nazarene University.
Austin held a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and an M.A. in Philosophy from Biola University, La Mirada, CA. He was the owner of Hill Communications, LLC., and spoke throughout North America on issues of business, entrepreneurship, the economy and pop culture.
Please keep the Hill family in your prayers and once I receive more information, I will pass it on, including details of a memorial service for him.
