ST. LOUIS, MO (ANS – October 27, 2015) — The TV network, Destination America, is to present what it calls, “the most dangerous night in television,” with the first LIVE televised exorcism in U.S. history, EXORCISM: LIVE! on Friday, Oct. 30 at 9/8c.
The network, which is dedicated to all-American entertainment, will revisit the story and the frightening house that inspired the iconic movie The Exorcist on its 66th anniversary this October. The live event will take place at the original Exorcist House in the suburbs of St. Louis where the infamous ritual was performed on Roland Doe in 1949.
“No one has ever attempted to rid the lurking spirits and demons that inhabit this home…until now,” explained a spokesperson for EXORCISM: LIVE!
The controversial show will feature Destination America’s cast of the hit series GHOST ASYLUM: The Tennessee Wraith Chasers, paranormal expert, Chip Coffey, as well as Bishop James Long with the United States Old Catholic Church, who will be conducting the rite of exorcism on the house.
“Actor and media correspondent Chris Jacobs has signed on as host of the two-hour live special, bringing with him an extensive career in live television as former host of The Insider, correspondent for Entertainment Tonight, and currently the host of Overhaulin’ on Velocity,” said the spokesperson.
Viewers will have the opportunity to take an active part in EXORCISM: LIVE! by following multiple live camera feeds set up around the house online at http://www.destinationamerica.com/tv-shows/exorcism-live-countdown/ .
“Destination America encourages viewers to serve as extra eyes and ears for the team throughout the special by scanning the live camera feeds on their home computers and reporting mysterious activity either on the adjacent comment board or on Twitter. Tweet observations @DestAmerica using #ExorcismLive. Select tweets will appear live on air and help suggest where paranormal hot spots may be developing,” added the spokesperson.
ABOUT THE DEMON FILES
The all-new series World Premieres Sunday, November 1 at 10/9c on Destination America, and you can see a Premiere episode clip for sharing/embedding: https://discovery.box.com/s/87key8nygd5adh9oipfgt2ksbo9krmn4
In the program, Ralph Sarchie’s life is divided between two very different worlds. In one he’s a decorated sergeant for the NYPD who proudly protected and served his city for over 18 years. In the other he’s a highly regarded demonologist, helping real American families who fear they may be threatened by the demonic.
His book Beware the Night details how he uses his cop-hardened savvy to combat supernatural evil at every turn and served as the inspiration for the 2014 movie Deliver Us from Evil. Now in THE DEMON FILES, Sarchie and his team travel across the country meeting with people apparently suffering from demonic activity.
In the premiere episode airing on Sunday, November 1 at 10/9c, an evil darkness has latched onto an entire family. Calling upon Ralph and his team to help, the family claims the home has a dark past. Unaware she made a pact with the devil, daughter Leigh-Ann says she was influenced by a demon that drove her to make an attempt on her own life. After she survived, things got worse. Leigh-Ann and her mother both claim to be physically attacked while the father is attacked mentally. Whether it’s a demon or the spirit of an angry boy who took his life, Ralph and his team will stop at nothing to save this family and put an end to the evil that has taken over this home and bring the family some peace.
ABOUT RALPH SARCHIE
Ralph Sarchie spent 18 years in the NYPD working out of the 46th precinct in New York’s South Bronx. He has since retired to take on his most important job (what he calls “The Work”), investigating cases of demonic possession and assisting in the exorcisms of humanity’s most ancient – and most dangerous – foes.
Schooled in the rituals of exorcism, and an eyewitness to the reality of demonic possession, Sarchie has documented a riveting chronicle of the inexplicable that gives a new shape to the shadows in the dark. In his controversial book Beware the Night, adapted into the 2014 film Deliver Us From Evil starring Eric Bana, Ralph discloses for the first time his investigations into incredible true crimes an inhuman evil that were never explained, solved, or understood except by Sarchie and his partner on the force. During his days in the NYPD he went from skeptic to true believer, having witnessed things that he feels could only be explained by paranormal means.
His investigations have taken him through the very hierarchy of a hell on earth to expose the grisly rituals of a Palo Mayombe priest; a young girl whose innocence is violated by an incubus; a home invaded by the malevolent spirit of a supposedly murdered 19th century bride; the dark side of a couple who were literally the neighbors from hell; and more.
According to spokesperson for the show, Ralph Sarchie’s NYPD revelations are a powerful and disturbing documented link between the true crime realities of life and the bone-chilling ice-grip of a supernatural terror.
According to his mother, when Ralph was 10 months old he got so sick and it would take a miracle to save him. The doctor said that he was now in the hands of God, and Ralph survived and went on to become a decorated police officer. He was raised Catholic but lost touch with the church at an early age. Working the streets of New York as a cop was rough, and Ralph reconnected with his faith to help cope with the daily atrocities involved with being a cop.
Ralph has always loved horror and thriller movies and began to get involved in his other calling, “The Work.” The Work is what Ralph calls his other job, serving humanity as a demonologist. Not charging a single dime, Ralph is a messenger to the unholy demonic evil that plagues and attacks this world and its people. One of the most respected demonologists in the field, Ralph has helped exorcise numerous families of the demons and other entities that infest their homes and properties. Ralph’s sole purpose is to help people under demonic attack and rid this evil from the planet.
