ORLANDO, FL (ANS – March 16, 2017) — A groundbreaking event took place in Orlando, Florida, on March 2nd, when a group of influential of media executives, producers and journalists came together at the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) Convention for the “soft-launch” of the Global News Alliance (http://www.gna.news/).
“In today’s overcrowded news environment”, stated GNA Director Stan Jeter, “the most under-reported news is the story of God at work.” He added that this unique news exchange would provide Christian media and ministries with a stronger voice and greater choices in telling that story.
The “soft launch”, according to Jeter, underscores members’ opportunity to shape the future of the GNA during the current Beta-testing stage.
Membership is open to Christian journalists, media producers, programmers, churches, schools and ministries willing to work together to cover news that matters. Those interested in becoming part of the GNA team may apply here (https://gna.news/membership-application).
Chairman of NRB
The meeting was facilitated by the newly elected Chairman of the NRB Board, Michael Little. Also present was Dr. Mitch Land, Dean of the School of Communication and the Arts at Regent University. Both Little and Land are Directors for the CNI Institute, Inc. (http://cni.institute/), the non-profit organization that facilitates the development of the GNA.
The GNA launch was attended by U.S. and international leaders representing these media organizations, among others:

* Medford, OR: The Dove TV

London GNA Bureau
GNA London Bureau Chief Peter Wooding, the younger son of Dan and Norma Wooding, related his recent experiences on the frontlines of Ukraine (at the Russian border), as well as his interview in the British House of Lords with Baroness Caroline Cox about her recent dramatic close encounter with death in Nigeria. Peter has already uploaded these and other stories to the GNA news exchange for member’s use.
Eastern Europe News Bureau
Tudor Petan, President of Alfa Omega TV, signed a Memo of Understanding with GNA Director Stan Jeter during NRB. Petan looks forward to establishing an Eastern Europe GNA News Bureau in the near future based at AO TV headquarters in Timisoara, Romania. Similar plans are under consideration for East Asia and Latin America.
Well known author and journalist Lee Strobel agreed with GNA’s mission to share the stories that are often missing in ordinary news coverage: “Those stories that don’t generally get reported will find a source for us as consumers to get the balanced information we need,” he told Peter Wooding in an interview. (Strobel and his wife, Leslie, were at the NRB convention to promote “The Case for Christ,” a movie about their life).
New GNA media tools
The redesigned GNA website is still under development, but ready for visitors at www.GNA.news. “We are also reworking the GNA presentation used during the NRB launch session, to be used in fund-raising and awareness-building. If you would like to help in these areas, please let us know,” said Stan Jeter, himself a veteran broadcaster who founded Christian World News for CBN.
He added, “The GNA is NOT funded by foundations or other deep-pocket donors — though we would certainly like that! Essentially it’s all of us, working together to create a service we all need. We are moving forward with volunteers, and funds provided by a few partners and donors. Modest start-up expenses include our London News Bureau and developing the GNA website.
“Please consider helping at this formative stage. Donations are tax-deductible in the U.S. and can be given online at http://cni.institute/ or mailed to CNI at the address below. Thank you for your interest and involvement in the Global News Alliance!”
