LOS ANGELES, CA (ANS – November 3, 2015) — In 1987, God came to Sammy Oriti, a talented American rock musician and gave him a gift, a vision, called Godspeed A Rock Opera and 25 years later, after much prepping, God turned on the switch and “Godspeed: A Rock Opera” was staged at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood with a full cast and band, and to rave reviews.
One came in from Trevor Rabin, legendary rock guitarist of the group YES and a top film composer, who wrote after seeing it, “Godspeed is a show of high quality and great entertainment. The singers were exceptional, as were the musicians.”
Sammy told me, “It is Godspeed season and the doors that were shut for many years are opening with welcoming arms. This has been quite a journey for me with ‘Godspeed’ from vision to completion.
“Seeing the audience moved with tears of joy as the cast and musicians on stage delivered awesome performances each show recently at The El Portal Theatre has taken my faith to a place of extreme trust in God.
“We can only tell new believers of the relationship that comes through in His time…to know it…one must go through the process with Him. God’s time is real time.”
Sammy’s extraordinary composition is based entirely on Scripture, but uses a progressive rock style.
He went on to say, “Over the years as we trust God we see the scriptures come to life in our lives. We see the truths in action and we see it change lives. It is evident we are in His presence. Hats off to that new believer who stays the course…I remember just believing and only that I made a right decision…like a baby being born has to grow into understanding, God guides and feeds us in our infancy. When it is our season…He turns on the switch of our calling and we go in His favor, the doors open. Like John the Baptist, it was his time. In the 15th year of Tiberius Caesar the Word of the Lord came to John. Not before…at that time and in that season.”
John Bisaha who played Jesus has such a great charm on stage and amazing voice he really brought across the warmth of the Lord with an authority and powerful presence. Dionne Gipson played ‘The Sinful Woman’ whose solo brought the house down at intermission every show. The rest of the cast sang wonderfully and the musicians were the best a show could have. All professional and believers who God gifted with great talent.
“On Saturday August 22nd we filmed Godspeed with 5 HD movie cameras in 4K. We recorded the singers and band with isolated tracks which we mixed at one of LA’s best music studios,” said Sammy.
“The result? We have an epic film of Godspeed. A pastor in Denver texted me while watching saying he just wept with every song. I have always known God’s spirit was with this show and seeing the audience moved was my confirmation, but above what I had expected. God is awesome!
Now having this film, I feel lead to share it with churches who can project a film in their sanctuary. Most churches can these days and Godspeed would be an awesome tool for the congregation to invite their unchurched friends to see the film and hear the gospel.
“I would love to be present and introduce the film giving my testimony on how I came out of the music business as a Springsteen Impersonator in 1987 when God turned my heart toward His Son. Amen!
Jack Hayford once said, ‘The Word of God is a two edged sword that pierces through a man’s bone into his soul…and music is the tip of that sword’. I remember that quote for 25 years. And you know what…? It is so true. God has blessed so many of us via the gifts He gives to those who craft music around His Word and promises.”
So, if your church would like to have a ‘Godspeed: A Rock Opera’ shown at your church, you can contact Sammy Oriti at firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more.
He added, “It is the season for sharing His love – Godspeed can move an audience like no other musical I know. It is the Word of God on stage which is extremely powerful.”
