By Dan Wooding, Founder of ASSIST News Service
LAKE FOREST, CA (ANS – May 19, 2017) – After weeks of uncertainty about whether the ASSIST News Service (ANS) would be able to continue, it has been saved by its readers.
Recently we faced a real crisis, when our funds almost dried up, and we were facing the possible closure of the ASSIST News Service, but I am glad to say that many of our ANS friends from all over the world, have rallied to our support, and also sent some wonderful messages of encouragement, which indicated that ANS MUST NOT CLOSE. Many of them backed it up with generous donations.
We are so grateful, as these gifts and pledges have meant that we are now able to cross the finish line and meet our present expenses, which included office rent, insurance, phone travel, and Internet costs, and also means that our news service can stay open for business. Thank you for making this possible!
As many of you will know, none of our ANS team, including myself, receive a regular salary, but trust the Lord to touch the hearts of people like yourself, to donate to keep us going. We have lived like this now for some 25 years, because, when we started the news service, we took a decision to never charge for a subscription to receive our stories right into your in-box.
Many of our readers have now helpfully suggested that, to ensure we don’t face like another crisis like this one, we again come you (including media who regularly use our stories), and ask if you would prayerfully consider making a pledge to make a monthly donation to ASSIST that would ensure our future in bringing you our stories that feature such important material about persecuted Christians, world missions, and fascinating Christians who are making such a difference in this world of ours.
All you need to do is go to www.assistnews.net and then scroll down the page until you see DONATE TO ASSIST NEWS, and there you can put in the amount you wish to give as a monthly, or one-off, offering. It is quite easy to set up to do this on a monthly basis.
If you prefer to send a check, please make it out to ASSIST, and then mail it to PO Box 609, Lake Forest, CA 92609, USA. (If you are sending a check, would you mind letting me know by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org, what you are kindly sending, and if it the first of a monthly gift, or a one-off, so I can tell my dear wife, Norma, our volunteer administrator, that your gift is coming in.)
I want to thank you for standing with us in this time of crisis, and, by doing so, you have allowed ANS to continue with our Kingdom work. Yours was a “Gift of Hope,” not only for ANS, but also for those that we serve around the world especially those who are suffering so much for their faith in Jesus Christ.
Our full name is Aid to Special Saints in Strategic Times, and so your gift has, and will, be doing just that. You will be aiding these “Special Saints” in what are the most “Strategic Times” that many of us can remember.
Finally, please go ahead and be challenged and enjoy our stories, and again, thank you all for standing with us in our time of need! By doing so, you have seen a media miracle take place!
