CARY, N.C. (ANS — March 3, 2017) – Back in 2013, TWR launched “Hope for Syria” to help provide biblical hope, peace and comfort to the people of strife-torn Syria. The 15-minute Arabic program airs twice a week from a powerful, strategically located AM transmitter and focuses on the psychological effects of trauma and fear; medical-related matters; and spiritual encouragement.
This week, Hope for Syria, an Arabic-language radio program produced by TWR (also known as Trans World Radio), was selected by the National Religious Broadcasters to receive the 2017 International Strategic Partnership Award.
TWR’s director of Arabic Ministries, whose name is withheld for security reasons, accepted the award at the NRB International Christian Media Convention in Orlando, Florida. “On behalf of TWR, I am grateful and humbled to receive this award,” said the ministry director. “I am also honored to be part of such a vital program to reach Syrians for Jesus Christ, and I believe what we are doing now will resonate for decades to come.”
The International Strategic Partnership Award is presented to an organization that has forged an effective partnership with an indigenous ministry. The partnership must be marked by strategic planning and cooperation with indigenous co-workers, sensitivity to cultural distinctives, and an impactful Christian outreach.
Thanks to the partnership of TWR’s Arabic department with the local church in Syria, many are being reached for Christ.
Phone calls, SMS messages and emails from listeners provide evidence that Hope for Syria is making an impact. Syrian refugees can even use a mobile app (www.refugeebridge.com ) to access programs.
Speaking fluently in more than 230 languages and dialects, TWR exists to reach the world for Jesus Christ. Its global media outreach engages millions in 160 countries with biblical truth. Discover more at www.twr.org. Media Contact: David McCreary, 919-460-3778; firstname.lastname@example.org.
