We need you to assist us to continue to the next stage of “Your Global Link with the World”
By Dan Wooding, Founder of ASSIST News Service
LAKE FOREST, CA (ANS – January 28, 2017) – For more than 25 years, the ASSIST News Service (www.assistnews.net), has been bringing you thousands of stories from around the world, many of which feature the plight of persecuted Christians.
With the invaluable help of our talented team of ANS writers, some of whom literally risk their lives in bringing us these stories, and never complain about the dangers they face, we have been working day and night to keep you informed.
I started the news service, which is based in Lake Forest, California, and carries the banner, “Your Global Link with the World,” so we could inform the media and you, one of our many subscribers, not only about the heroes of the faith like Asia Bibi, the 50-year-old Pakistani mother-of-five who has been sentenced to death for alleged blasphemy, but also about Christians who are making a difference for Christ and also popular culture and how it affects the Church.
Since the beginning, our website has used a wonderful ministry called Ministry System, who introduced us to a fine webmaster, Ken Hunt, who sadly has since passed away, but then, two years ago, we had our website completely re-designed by a couple of Calvary Chapel pastors, Jason Gold and Matt Klein, who are based at http://www.Greedbegone.com, and have done a great job for us. (By the way, they also provide excellent Internet services to churches and ministries.)
But that switch-over left us a problem — what to do with the many stories that had been run on our old website, and so that’s where Ken Rustrum, President of Vituramis (http://www.vituramis.org), came into the picture. After we changed to the new website and e-mail system, we faced a difficult situation. We have thousands of our old stories that needed to archived, so, on the recommendation of Don McIntosh, the founder of Ministry Systems, Ken Rustrum began helping us by saving them all for us.
Now we need Ken to do another important task and that is to put together a search engine so that all of our ANS readers — in fact, anyone — will be able to search back, often for many years, for stories that they are interested in. By the way, Ken Rustrum says, “Our mission statement is: ‘Leveraging the power of software and the Internet to empower ministries around the World.’”
So now, I am asking you to make a generous donation (tax-deductible in the US), to help us commission Ken to compile this search engine. It is vital for us all to be able to find what, up until now, have become long-lost stories.
If God is touching you heart to help us, all you have to do is go to www.assistnews.net and scroll down to where it says, DONATE TO ASSIST NEWS, and put in the amount you are able to give. If you prefer a check, just make it out to ASSIST and mail it to PO Box 609, Lake Forest, CA 92609, USA. Thank you!
Once we receive enough gifts to pay Ken Rustrum’s ministry to start compiling the new search engine, and then has completed it, I’ll let you know so you can start using it and begin finding some of your favorite stories from the past It will be an invaluable addition to our news service and you will have the great satisfaction of ensuring it takes place and having played a vital role in making it occur.

He now lives in Southern California with his wife Norma, to whom he has been married for some 53 years. They have two sons, Andrew and Peter, and six grandchildren who all live in the UK. Dan is the founder/president of the ASSIST News Service (ANS), and is also the author of some 45 books.
