ANDERSON, SC (November 3, 2015) — Lachlan Creative Group announces the release of a new documentary film about the life of the real Saint Nicholas. The film called SAINT NICHOLAS – The Real Story investigates what is known about the historical figure whose story evolved over centuries into the legend of Santa Claus.
But as the film’s director, Stuart Lachlan Bennett, points out, “The jolly old man in the red suit who lives at the North Pole could be nothing further from the true story”.
SAINT NICHOLAS – The Real Story is a film that will give Christian parents chills as they learn how this third century man of God was persecuted for his faith. During the time he was Bishop of Myra (in modern day Turkey) Nicholas was thrown into prison. He was actually one of the lucky survivors of what was one of the worst eras of Christian persecution under Roman rule. Many saints were martyred during that time, but when Constantine became Emperor, Nicholas’s world was turned upside down. Suddenly, Christianity became a legal religion.
Although Nicholas is known today for his acts of charity, he was a force to be reckoned with in his society. He stood up to corrupt leaders, fought against high Roman taxes, defended the weak and innocent and even released prisoners. Everything he did was born from his deep faith in Jesus Christ. Bennett says, “If ever there was a man of God whose life we can celebrate, surely Nicholas is one.” “For decades Christian parents have been at a loss of what to tell their children about Santa Claus. I made this film so they can honor the real man of God from the early church and tell their children the truth about this hero of the faith”. “While other films have been made about how we got Santa Claus,” Bennett says, “none have really explored in depth the life and faith of the real man. My job with this film was to put together the most credible facts. I was able to do that with the help of several experts who have spent years studying every scrap of evidence”.
Author of the book: The Saint Who Would be Santa Claus; Dr. Adam English says, “The time is right for SAINT NICHOLAS: The Real Story. Saint Nicholas is the most popular non-Biblical character in all of Christian history. There are literally hundreds of churches around the world dedicated to Nicholas. He has universal appeal. We should never forget that first and foremost, he was a Christian pastor, a bishop committed to the gospel. This should be a monumental fact for Christian families who are looking for a way to connect to the Christmas season”.
The documentary was filmed on location in Turkey, Italy, the U.K. and the USA. It will air on TV stations in Australia, New Zealand and the U.K. this Christmas and is now available on DVD in the U.S. from www.visionvideo.com.
