UNITED KINGDOM (ANS – October 15, 2017) — With the United States and Israel withdrawing their membership of the UN’s world heritage body, UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), citing “continuing anti-Israel bias,” comes more confirmation of Jesus’s prophecy outlined in Luke 21.
Here was a forewarning of “Jews being trampled on by Gentiles.” Study of Jewish history has turned me into an Israel advocate.
Welcoming the Trump administration decision, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: “UNESCO has become a theatre of absurd. Instead of preserving history, it distorts it.”
The cash-strapped educational agency is best known for its world heritage listings of outstanding cultural and natural sites. It sparked anger when it listed Hebron, King David’s first capital of Israel, as a Palestinian world heritage site.
In 2011 the US cancelled its budget contribution to UNESCO in protest against the admission of Palestine as a full member.
The Israeli ambassador Danny Danon said the latest US action was proof that the “absurd and shameful resolutions against Israel have consequences.” It was “a new day at the UN where there is a price to pay for discrimination against Israel.”
The 49 Muslim majority nations have used the United Nations as a battering ram on which to oppress the lone Jewish state.
Luke 21:23-24 speaks of Jerusalem being ransacked: “There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people. They (Jews) will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.”
Jesus was speaking of the imminent fall of Jerusalem in AD70 and the worldwide scattering of the Jewish people — the “Roman” exile. Jesus forecast that Jerusalem would be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles until his Second Coming as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Meanwhile Jerusalem continues to be trampled on. Nations are telling Israel what to do with their own land and their own capital of 3,000 years, Jerusalem. Muslims control the most holy place in Jerusalem to Jews — the Temple Mount.
The most scandalous piece of Gentile trampling in the last 90-odd years has been the air-brushing out of history of the irrevocable San Remo Agreement that too few know about. Lord Curzon, British Foreign Secretary in 1919, called it, in its original Balfour Declaration form, the Magna Carta of Zionists.
At an Israel advocacy HonestReporting Mission (http://honestreporting.com/mission/) in Jerusalem I was shocked at the ignorance about the San Remo by Jews from North America, Australia, Britain and the Israelis themselves.
HonestReporting, in their quest to be fair, invited Hagit Offran from Peace Now, a Jewish movement helping Palestinian Arabs to stop Israeli settlements in Judea and Samaria, a.k.a. the West Bank.
I made one lady blush bright red after I asked her what she knew about the San Remo Treaty. “I know nothing about the San Remo Treaty,” she replied.
I retorted: “Well you should do as it gives Israel the right to settle Jews between the River Jordan and the Mediterranean Sea provided there is no interference with existing Gentile communities.”
That, in a nutshell, is the San Remo Agreement which Zionists should never stop trumpeting. The Nazi mantra was repeat a big lie loud enough and people will believe it. The liars are winning the propaganda battle to delegitimize Israel.
Supporters of Israel’s right to live in peace within secure borders are failing to proclaim the San Remo Agreement to an ignorant world. Successive Israeli governments should have blasted out: “The Judeo-Christian scriptures say that the Holy Land belongs to the Jews, so does Islam’s holy book, the Koran, and so does the San Remo Agreement.”
Israel’s Levy Report also says the same thing but Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu appears to have shelved it.
You read me right. Allah has promised Israel to the Jews. Mohammed, Islam’s founder, says the Muslim god Allah assigned Israel to the Jews (Sura 5 Verse 21), and that Jews are the inheritors of Israel (Sura 26 Verse 59).
The back story for San Remo begins in the reign of Queen Elizabeth 1 of England when Bible-believing Christians realized that the persecuted Jewish diaspora was destined to return from the four corners of the Earth to their ancient homeland. Research by international Bible teacher David Pawson claims that half the Jews born during the last 800 years have died in pograms and lynchings throughout the world, including mediaeval England.
The big-hitting British Zionist list includes the Puritan theologian John Owen, Oliver Cromwell, the Wesley Brothers, William Wilberforce, Robert Murray McCheyne, hymn writer Andrew Bonar, Bishop JC Ryle, and Charles Haddon Spurgeon.
In the 1840s future British Prime Minister Lord Palmerston wanted the Ottoman Empire to permit Jews to return to their ancestral homeland. Pogroms in Eastern Europe during Queen Victoria’s reign led to other Parliamentarians seeking the same thing. In 1908 Winston Churchill urged a reconstituted state of Israel.
Arthur Balfour was UK Prime Minister between 1902 -1905 but is best known for his action as Foreign Secretary in 1917 when he promised Jews a “national home” in Palestine; known thereafter as the Balfour Declaration.
Within weeks of this Declaration, Britain and its Commonwealth forces had liberated Palestine from Turkish rule. Following the end of the First World War, in which the Ottoman Empire sided with Germany, the Allies decided that territories previously administered by the Turks should become sovereign nations.
At the San Remo Conference on the Italian Riviera, in April 1920, the post-war Allied Supreme Council was attended by the Prime Ministers of Britain (David Lloyd George), France, Italy and by a Japanese Ambassador. The USA was present with observer status.
The outcome was the granting by the League of Nations to Britain of the Mandate for Palestine. The mandate set out how the Holy Land was to be settled by Jews until they could form a viable nation. For the first time in history, Palestine became a legal entity and not just a geographical area.
The Balfour Declaration was incorporated into international law and sovereignty over Palestine was vested in the Jewish people. Jewish people became the national beneficiary, based on self-determination, even though most Jews had not returned to their ancestral homeland. The agreement recognized that Jews were the true indigenous people of the Holy Land. It cannot be revoked unless the Israelis say so.
The San Remo Agreement was included in the Treaty of Sèvres that sorted out territorial and other matters relating to the Great War, and confirmed by the Council of the League of Nations on 24th July 1922, becoming operational on September 29, 1923. It is also part of U.S. law.
Arabs gained equivalent rights in Lebanon, Syria and Mesopotamia (Iraq).
The Jewish State therefore draws its legal existence from the San Remo Agreement. All 51 nations of the League of Nations voted in favour.
Meanwhile Arabs obtained nearly 78 per cent of the old Palestine when Winston Churchill created Trans-Jordan in April 1921. The League of Nations referred to this territory as “The Trans-Jordan Province of Palestine” right up until the last meeting of the League on April 18th, 1946. Trans-Jordan (now Jordan) gained its independence from Britain in 1946 when it became a Hashemite Kingdom.
The efforts of the European Coalition for Israel need to be praised for leading the way in championing the San Remo Agreement in the European Union, the United Nations, and with governments around the world.
In April 2010 it rented the same Italian villa on the same dates as the original San Remo Conference to proclaim to the world the forgotten, but still internationally binding treaty. It published a booklet called “90 Years On” and written by former UK Christian Friends of Israel head honcho Roy Thurley which is available on the internet and which I have drawn from.
“90 Years On” was published after a European Coalition for Israel legal committee, assisted by a top international lawyer, concluded that the treaty remained valid and gives Israel the right to settle Jews between the River Jordan and the Mediterranean Sea. All other claims regarding this territory are bogus.
Back to the Koran: Sheikh Ahmad Adwan, a Muslim scholar living in Jordan, states: “I say to those who distort … the Koran: from where did you bring the name Palestine, you liars, you accursed, when Allah has already named it “The Holy Land” and bequeathed it to the Children of Israel until the Day of Judgment.”
Adwan declares that “Palestine” doesn’t exist. “There is no such thing as ‘Palestine’ in the Koran,” he says.
“Your, that is Palestinian, demand for the Land of Israel is a falsehood and it constitutes an attack on the Koran, on the Jews and their land. Therefore you won’t succeed, and Allah will fail you and humiliate you, because Allah is the one who will protect them (i.e. the Jews),” warns Adwan.
The sheikh had more harsh words for the “Palestinians,” calling them “the killers of children, the elderly and women” in using them as human shields in order to falsely accuse the Jews of targeting them. He reports having seen the same tactic used by “Palestinians” against the Jordanian army in the 1970s in the Black September clashes.
“This is their habit and custom, their viciousness, their having hearts of stones towards their children, and their lying to public opinion, in order to get its support,” declares Adwan.
The Jews are a peaceful people according to Adwan, who says “if they are attacked, they defend themselves while causing as little damage to the attackers as possible.”
According to Robert Spencer, writing in the Middle East Forum, the British-based imam Sheikh Muhammad Al-Hussaini states, “You will find very clearly that the traditional commentators from the eighth and ninth century onwards have uniformly interpreted the Koran to say explicitly that Eretz Yisrael has been given by God to the Jewish people as a perpetual covenant. There is no Islamic counterclaim to the Land anywhere in the traditional corpus of commentary.”
These pro-Israel messages need to be spread loud and clear at all methods of communication with the world at large.

About the writer: Retired journalist Christopher Proudlove spent 46 years in various roles with national, regional, and local weekly newspapers in the United Kingdom. He also spent three years editing the Elim Pentecostal Church’s Evangel weekly magazine from 1979 – 1982. Christopher also produced outreach newspapers without charge for UK churches. In recent years he has written blogs for Christians for Zion and become an Israel advocate. He took on the BBC for inaccurate reporting on the 1967 Six Day War. BBC underlings twice rejected his protests, but his final stage plea to the BBC Trust was accepted. The program makers were forced to apologize for misreporting. He keeps an eye on two local weekly newspapers and the regional daily where he was responsible for launching a church news page. Christopher’s defenses of the Bible and Israel are now regularly found in the letters columns. He has exposed as lies various pronouncements from the local Palestine Solidarity Campaign group.
