LAKE FOREST, CA (ANS – September 6, 2015) – Dan Wooding, the veteran international journalist and founder of the ASSIST News Service, has called on Christians around the world to start a weekly prayer meeting for persecuted Christians.
Wooding, 74, who was born in Nigeria of British missionary parents, has been reporting on the plight of persecuted Christians for more than 40 years and says that he believes things are “getting worse by the day” for so many believers, especially in the Middle East following the rise of the self-styled terror group, Islamic State or ISIS, and in West Africa, with Boko Haram.
Now, Wooding has joined forces with author and broadcaster, Pam Christian, to present “Windows on the World,” a new weekly television broadcast on the Holy Spirit Broadcasting Network (http://hsbn.tv/), in which Dan talks with Pam Christian about the top persecution stories of the week that are carried on the ASSIST News Service (www.assistnews.net.)
“As things are getting worse and worse for our fellow brothers and sisters in many of the world’s hotspots, it occurred to me that prayer is the only real answer for this awful situation,” said Wooding. “So I am suggesting that Christians of goodwill start a weekly prayer meeting for persecuted believers either in their home or church.
“They can choose to pray for the people that are featured on ANS, or together watch the TV show and then pray for those we featured in the ‘Windows on the Word,’ program. This would be a wonderful source of encouragement for those Christians who are suffering so bravely for their faith in Jesus Christ, particularly in Syria and Iraq, and also in Nigeria, the land of my birth.”
People can view the TV program on the Holy Spirit Broadcasting Network, and also watch the first two shows at http://hsbn.tv/[on-demand]%20windows-on-the-world.html.
Wooding is now offering a free subscription to the ASSIST News Service and people can sign up by going to www.assistnews.net and then scroll down the page to find the place where you can sign up.
“Once you enter your information, you will receive an e-mail asking you to confirm your subscription and you then just confirm it and the stories will then start arriving in your in-box,” he said. “By the way,” he added, “your e-mail address will not be used for anything else but to send you the ANS stories.
If you are able to start a prayer meeting for persecuted Christians, Dan had requested that that you let him know at firstname.lastname@example.org so that he can be encouraged that you have done so.
