Hit Songwriter Tom Douglas to Speak at WriterFest Nashville

Songwriter Tom Douglas will be one of the featured speakers and panelists at WriterFest Nashville.

WriterFest Nashville has recently announced that award-winning songwriter Tom Douglas will join the all-star cast of authors, publishers and agents for the two-day event which will be held at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee on Fri., Nov. 19 and Sat., Nov. 20.

Douglas is an American country music songwriter with Top 10 Billboard Country hits to his credit with songs he’s written for John Michael Montgomery, Martina McBride, Tim McGraw, Collin Raye, Lady A, Miranda Lambert, and others. His new film “Love, Tom: A Letter of Hope to a Desperate World” will premier on Paramount & CMT in 2022. Douglas will be joined by producer Austin Fish, and Tom’s co-writer on the script, “Tommy Douglas.”

WriterFest Nashville will feature lectures and conversations with bestselling authors, world-class publishing professionals, filmmakers, poets and songwriters. Attendees will have an opportunity to be a part of five breakout sessions with over 16 to choose from. Participants will also hear behind-the-scenes stories and gain tips from songwriters and filmmakers.

The schedule will be divided into three tracks – “Hone Your Craft,” “Master Publishing Activities,” and “Learn the Publishing Industry. “A few of the sessions offered will include “Writing Outside of Your Experience,” “Contracts & IP,” “Writing Partnerships: Agents, Editors and Authors,” and “Writing a Screenplay for a Budget,” and more. Keynote speakers will include J.T. Ellison, Albert Lee and Aimee Nezhukumatathil

Other featured speakers and panelists will include Becky Nesbitt, Dana Chamblee Carpenter, Dave Schroeder, Erica Ciccarone, Janina Lawrence, Jenn Hanson-dePaula, Jenny Hale, and Jeremy Spillman, among others.

Founded and Directed by Ami McConnell, WriterFest Nashville is a creative gathering for aspiring writers, published authors, screenwriters, poets and songwriters. This is the third year for the event, which was first held in 2018.

McConnell is the former Editor-in-Chief and Vice President, Howard Books/Simon & Schuster. Her editing credits include numerous New York Times bestsellers and award-winning titles. McConnell has edited renowned authors such as Colleen Coble, Ted Dekker, Karen Kingsbury, Max Lucado, Frank Peretti, and Wm. Paul Young.  She has served on the Advisory Board of The Buechner Institute (King College) and is an active member of the Women’s National Book Association. Additionally, McConnell is co-author with Candace Cameron Bure of the USA Today bestseller Kind Is the New Classy (Zondervan/HarperCollins).
