Following the recent re-arrest of Brother Wang Xiangchao of the Sai Er Te Young Adults Fellowship, Brothers Shao and Sister Liu, as well as Sister Gu of the fellowship, were also successively taken back into custody by the police between September 26 and 29, 2025. They face the exact charges as Wang Xiangchao, accused of “using a cult organization to undermine the enforcement of law.”
Constant Surveillance and Renewed Detention
The three were initially arrested on June 29 of this year and later released on bail pending trial on July 31. However, during the bail period, they continued to endure constant surveillance and harassment. Now their re-detention has come as a shock. Meanwhile, Pastor Mingdao’s wife, Sister Hua Zhao, was also taken from her home by police early in the morning of September 30.
Currently, Pastor Mingdao himself has been held in detention for more than three months since his June 29 arrest, with no sign of release. At this point, six members of the Sai Er Te Young Adults Fellowship in Shenyang have been formally arrested.
Torture, Family Targeting, and Growing Pressure
According to Christians informed about the situation, during their initial 30 days of detention, the brothers and sisters re-arrested this time round suffered immense mental and physical pressure, with interrogation sessions described as a nightmare-like torment. In addition, some of the detainees’ family members have been implicated, summoned to police stations as “suspects” for questioning. Some have since been released, while others continue to be repeatedly summoned.
Call for Prayer and Support
The Shenyang Sai Er Te Young Adults Fellowship calls upon churches and Christians everywhere to pray for the detained brothers and sisters, asking the Lord to grant them peace and steadfast faith so that they may remain united, strong, and courageous, bearing good witness for the Lord in the midst of trials. — ChinaAid
