Worship Artist House of Peace Hits Top of Secular Pop Charts with ‘Love Is a Flame’

Worship Artist House of Peace Hits Top of Secular Pop Charts with ‘Love Is a Flame’

With over 9,000 radio spins worldwide, Florida-based band, House of Peace is topping the secular pop charts with the release of “Love Is a Flame” off of their album Welcome to the River from Rex Records.

David Liscum, the band’s leading member and producer of Welcome to the River, said as a worship artist, it’s been phenomenal to have such a major impact on the secular charts.

“It’s been interesting to have secular news outlets comment on the song and what they think it means, but ‘Love is a Flame’ is talking about God like all of our other songs do. The Flame represents the Holy Spirit and the personal connection that we have with God, along with the power of His presence and love,” he said.

“Love Is a Flame” has charted on Digitalradiotracker.com (DRT) in the top 200 (it ranked at 121 as of 3-20-2021) alongside some of the top pop artists like Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd. The band also had the No. 1 downloaded song this week for Adult Contemporary and was ranked No. 4 for Triple A on the Play MPE® charts.

“We saved the best for last. We knew from the radio survey that the song would be well received. After we released the song ‘My Love’ on secular radio last year, it did much better than we anticipated, so we knew early-on ‘Love Is a Flame’ would have a similar impact on listeners, globally. We are excited to see it topping the charts,” Liscum said.

In addition to encouraging those in the church, Welcome to the River is reaching those outside of the church walls.

“There are a lot of corporate worship albums out there, and we love those kinds of projects, but we wanted to do something artistic that’s a little outside of the box in regard to radio and what the rest of the worship community is doing,” Liscum said.

He said the song has influences of Coldplay and Snow Patrol combined with powerful string arrangements and haunting vocals that have defined the band’s signature sound.

After making waves in the mainstream market, the song is now going for adds at Christian radio stations across the country.

Liscum recruited Grammy and Dove nominated producer Sean Moffitt on the project to mix “Love Is a Flame.” Moffit is best known for his work with artists like TobyMac, Chris Tomlin, Lauren Daigle, Tauren Wells, Josh Groban and Zach Williams.

“Love Is a Flame” is from the full-length album, Welcome to the River, which House of Peace released late last year. “Love Is a Flame” was released on the heels of the song “My Love,” which also exploded on mainstream radio. The band is expected to follow up with an EDM version of “Love Is a Flame” later this spring.

“The song has provided us an opportunity to share our love of the Lord with people all over the world. It also has given us a chance to let people everywhere know how much God loves them and that’s contagious,” Liscum said.

Welcome to the River features 13 songs, which were written and produced by Liscum. This is the first time he served in the producer role on a full-length project from the group. Welcome to the River a follow-up to Into the Great Unknown. Songs from Welcome to the River have been featured in reality shows and on TV commercials.

Welcome to the River is available digitally and on streaming outlets, globally, on Apple Music, iTunes, Spotify, Google Play and more. For more information about House of Peace and Welcome to the River, visit www.HouseofPeaceBand.com and follow the band on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/HouseofPeaceMusic.

The project featured five songs that were produced by Grammy Award and Dove Award-winning producer, Ed Cash. Additionally, the band’s song, “New Life” was used with a movie score called “One Child,” and was featured on the movie soundtrack for The Identical, which starred Ray Liotta and Ashley Judd.
