Pastor Jimmie Davidson smallLOS ANGELES, CA (ANS – January 10, 2018) — On the side of town known for both epic demonstrations and celebrations, a new church opens its doors just two blocks from City Hall at an indie film theater on Main Street, Los Angeles, on Sunday, January 14, 2018.

The Brooks Church, led by Pastor Jimmie Davidson, plans to make sure those doors, normally used for special screenings at the Downtown Independent Theater, welcomes everyone, including those people who may feel alienated or forgotten.

“The Brooks is a home for all those who feel less than perfect,” said Davidson, whose work includes being a catalyst for planting churches in Southern California. “In fact, perfect people need not apply. This is a place for imperfect people to RISE and become all God made them to be.”

Davidson’s resume includes previously being on staff at Saddleback Church, helping the megachurch led by Rick Warren to launch church campuses in Berlin, Manila, Hong Kong, and Buenos Aires as part of its PEACE Plan.

“Globally, there’s a great migration of people to cities, one of them being L.A.,” Davidson said. “We are here to welcome those who move to L.A. and be a caring family for them as they settle into one of the greatest cities in the world.”

Executive Pastor Min Lee describes The Brooks launch team as “a loving family of imperfect people like myself, that breaks through stereotypes and limitations.”

“At the end of the day, we are a family in Christ and we love one another. And Jesus has called us to share this amazing love with our community here in Downtown Los Angeles.” He adds this Bible verse to his comments: “We love, because He first loved us (1 John 4:19).”

The Brooks Church service at the Downtown Independent Theater on Sunday begins at 11 am. There will be engaging music, an experiential message, kids programming for all ages. Light refreshments and free parking. All in 1-hour!
